4pm is the hour to turn on the lights!!

Queen Victoria was pleased with the crowd.  Over her left shoulder is C. Dickens' great grandson.

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a few weeks.  I've been having trouble with my ISP, and the issues still aren't resolved, but I've managed to patch a few cables and a few extra wires together, wound them around my head, plugged them into the wall, into the computer and we'll see if I can get something fresh out there of you.

I haven't spoken much about the town that is somewhat near by.  Ulverston is lovely.  It is an old, wonderful market town, famous for many reasons.  First & foremost, it is well preserved as the market town it was over 150 years ago.  Secondly, it has many famous residents; the ones from the past are celebrated most.  Charles Dickens was born in Portsmouth and was a fan of Ulverston.  Each year, an entire weekend is dedicated to Charles memory by transporting the town back to the Dickensian era.  Special events take place; fairs, rides, markets, but the most stunning of all is the dress of the people.  Many people dress as was the fashion of Dicken's era, and even Queen Victoria returns.

The Dickensian Weekend also signals the lighting of the Village Christmas Tree & Lights, coinciding with the conclusion of the Dickensian Dress Parade at the town center (the main street is still of cobblestones).   She's guarded by the Scottish Bagpipers who do a great job playing.
